Vendor Profile - AVDesign

Athan Vennell makes items from reclaimed fabrics. In his hands, a pair of pants turns into a bag. Jeans become a blanket. Gowns become flowers, and the list goes on. This is his first year as a vendor at the Hingham Shipyard Holiday Market, but Athan has been selling at markets and stores in the northeast for the past five years.

“I went to school for fashion design and after working in and around the NYC fashion scene I needed a change and ventured back to my hometown area, and have been selling newly reclaimed items.”

AVDesign’s line is perfect for the forward, outside-the-box thinker, creator and liver. Someone who enjoys well crafted items and enjoys quirkiness in their daily life. Athan is inspired by the old becoming new again. “I have always been the one to see the beauty in the 'discarded.'  Whether it be a doll with no arm on the side of the road to the person in class who gets picked on by everyone.  Evreyone and everything is inately beautiful, sometimes it takes time to let it shine, or re-shine as the case often is.”
